Macarthur Family and Youth Services (MF+YS) is a "home grown" community managed not for profit agency supporting children, young people, families and communities in the Macarthur area.
We provide early intervention, prevention and crisis support services for children, young people and families. We work in partnership with families and other services to create opportunity and sustain positive change in people's lives.
We work from positive respect and social justice principles. We are deliberately culturally and socially inclusive. MF+YS includes Nabu an Aboriginal Team working with Aboriginal children, young people, families and communities.
The Programs & Services Provided by Macarthur Family and Youth Services:
Aboriginal Child Youth and Family Strategy (ACYFS)
The Aboriginal Child, Youth & Family Strategy is a whole-of- government prevention and early intervention program that supports children aged up to five years, and their families and communities.
It provides a range of services that include Aboriginal parenting programs, school transition programs, supported playgroups, family workers and programs to build the capacity of the community to respond to challenges.
MF+YS is funded to deliver an Aboriginal Supported playgroup (Guroong Mana) and the Women’s Indigenous Supported Housing Program (WISH).
Early Intervention and Placement Prevention
The Early Intervention & Placement Prevention program provides support to vulnerable children, young people and families to stop problems escalating and to reduce the likelihood of children and young people entering or remaining in child protection and out-of-home care.
The EIPP program consists of three sub-programs:
• Child, youth and family services
• Intensive family support
• Intensive family preservation
These provide a range of services – from lower-level parenting and youth support to intensive family interventions to prevent children and young people coming into care.
MF+YS is funded to deliver Child, Youth and Family Services (CY+F) and Intensive Family Support (IFS) through the EIPP Program
Families NSW is the NSW Government’s population based prevention and early intervention strategy for families expecting a baby or with children aged 0 to 8.
The whole-of-government strategy is implemented through service models that focus on supporting parents to be confident, connected to their community and its services and equipped to support their children’s development.
The services provided include universal services e.g. health home visiting, and programs targeting priority communities and groups, e.g. supported playgroups, schools as community centres, family workers and antenatal programs.
MF+YS delivers support through family workers, supported playgroup, support and skill based groups and outreach.
